Tandem Antiques & Design (TA&D) is Hilary and Steven Eklund of Jefferson NY.

What’s up with the name, you ask? We are tandem – living, working, designing, creating and parenting together. What else could we call ourselves?  Just like two people on a tandem bicycle, we have to collaborate to make the thing go.

What exactly do we do, you ask? We are constantly in search of fabulous antiques and interesting found objects to help you create a unique, stimulating environment in your home, office or studio .  We are not nearly disciplined enough to focus on just one era or type of merchandise.  Consequently we dabble in everything from primitive to moderne, from jewelry to art to furniture, and have a great time putting them together in ways that may surprise you.

Steven and I offer our selections at antique shows throughout the year, as well as year-round at our shop in Hudson NY – Warren Street Antiques.  And although we love to meet people and sell face-to-face, we are excited to add this website to our venues.

Everybody calls us “the kids.”  It can be traced back to our start in the business under Steve’s parents, antiques dealers for 40 years.  As we got involved in selling, they and their friends would refer to us that way.  “Are the kids doing the show next month?”  That kind of thing.

But what’s funny is the way it has followed us, far beyond my in-law’s cronies.  When we joined our shop in Hudson we only knew one of the three other dealers.   But after the first couple of months we realized that all of our partners referred to us, amongst themselves, as “the kids.”  So that is part of who we are, apparently.  You can call us “the kids”, too, if you want.

In addition to all this work stuff, we are also raising two boys and one dog, and hanging out with a bunch of wonderful but maddening teenagers in our Youth Group.  Rarely a dull moment in our world!
