Whew! What a busy couple of weeks!
The Round Lake show was last week, and it was fun and successful for us. We had a wonderful time visiting with our friends, not to mention selling lots of great merchandise both days of the show!
So we came home Sunday night, recovered on Monday (lots of fun + [...]

As I planned this post in my mind, I googled the word “vignette”. At first I was alarmed — did this word, which I use often and with confidence, not mean what I thought it meant? Would I have to take this post in a whole Princess Bride direction? But then I read further.

As we prepare for the Schoharie Antique show, and the kick-off of our 2010 show season, I want to rerun a post from a year ago. Following are my tips for enjoying an antique show, whether you are a seasoned antiquer or a newbie to the game .
1. Bring cash.
Many antique show dealers do not [...]

I have come to a realization, which is: It has been a long time since we did an antiques show for the first time. A long time since we were the “newbies” at a venue — we’ve been doing the same shows for years! But next week we will be setting up at The Albany [...]

You know those amazing European grain sacks and homespuns that have been appearing in magazines this year, reinvented as pillow covers and re-upholstered wing chairs? Well I finally got my hands on some! And these fabrics are every bit as pleasing and tactile as I thought they would be.

We are excited to do our first Antique Show of the season this weekend, in Schoharie NY. As we prepare for it, I’m wondering what advice I could offer a new antiquer attending a show. These are the my tips:
          1. Bring cash.  Many antique shows and dealers do not accept credit cards. You can also use checks, so bring those too, but [...]

Our son is interested in all things Asian – paintings, figures, calligraphy, clothing. (Girls, but don’t tell him I told you.) When he sells at the Lakeside Antique Show each year his inventory reflects his interest. He has plans to attend college in Tokyo. Have I mentioned that he is eight years old?
Well, he went to an auction [...]

We enjoyed a truly beautiful upstate NY summer Saturday today — sunny, hot but not unbearable, with a breeze that felt lovely if you were standing in the shade. You might say it was a perfect day for a picnic, or a hike in the hills, or a visit to a historical site. And you would [...]
