Truly Repurposed – Hanging Industrial Light

This unusual light has a lot going for it.  It has the metal wire and patina that is so hot in industrial pieces right now.  But it also has a touch of whimsy and fun, kind of a jaunty attitude.

In a former life, it was an apple picker.  Totally utilitarian, simply meant to make a menial job easier.

But now, it gets a second chance.  To live a new life, with style!

A Visit to Warren Street Antiques in Hudson NY

Once again, Steve took the camera to the shop last week, and took a bunch of pictures for you.  He snapped Tandem discoveries as well as great stuff from our shop partners Tom Jardas, New Scotland Antiques and Metropolis.  It’s a random assortment, and (as always) not representative of everything there is to see at WSA.  Just a taste…

Lamp Shades are Baffling

Does anyone else feel this way, or is it just me?

I love lamps and lighting of all kinds.  I understand the impact that the right shade can have, and the damage that can be done to good design with the wrong shade.  I get all that.

Often, when I see a lamp with a shade on it I can discern whether the shade is a good or bad match for that particular lamp.  Sometimes, when I see a lamp without a shade I have an idea about what kind of shade would be the right choice.  But not always. …
