Tandem HQ is all a-bustle with preparations for The Albany Show at St. Sophia’s Greek Church in Albany this week! We are bringing a few pieces of furniture and lots of wonderful tabletop items, jewelry and lighting – all perfectly suited to help you kick off your holiday shopping. As an added bonus, the ladies of the Greek church will once again be manning the concession, providing an array of Greek delicacies – sweet and savory! I personally can’t wait!

Steven and I did the Fall Schoharie Antiques Show this past weekend, in Schoharie NY. (That’s sko-hair-ee. I was confused at first too.) This is the counterpart to the show we do there in March, and also sponsored by the Schoharie County Historical Association. This is also one of the two shows we do each year with Steve’s parents, Deb and Carl Eklund.

I love bakelite, even if it is not worth what it used to be. It has wonderful qualities that are unlike other vintage plastics. Bakelite colors tend to be rich and saturated, it was intricately carved and worked, and it has a nice weight in the hand. I am attracted to it whenever I see it, especially in its more unusual forms.
I currently have a pin in my etsy shop that is different than any I have seen. It is the carved face of a man or a troll or a dwarf…I don’t know. He always makes me think…
