About Tandem Antiques & Design

We are Hilary and Steven Eklund, a transplanted southern girl and a self-described “cultured hick” from upstate NY. We met in 1997 in an antique shop in Hudson NY, exchanging snarky comments about an over-the-top English porcelain lamp. Our fate was sealed in those first moments – a future filled with old things and sarcasm. 

In 20+ years we have done it all - sold at shows, had shops in Hudson, run auctions, dealt in country and Victorian, industrial and Mid-Century Modern. We’ve learned a ton, and it all informs the hard-to-pin-down mix that we offer now.

Form, materials, quality. Those are the attributes we look for. Modern and antique. Art and sculpture, including collections of art. Studio pottery. (Lots of art. Lots of pottery.)

Whether you’ve just bought a weekend place in our beautiful Catskill Mountains, or you’re a designer putting together a hotel project on the West Coast, we very well may have what you need.

We sell in High Point NC (twice a year during High Point Market), and at our shop in Stamford NY. (Not to mention our giant by-appointment warehouse, also in Stamford.) The rest of the time is really taken up with “What are we having for dinner?”
